First year heac-coach Rich Rodriguez looks to take home the Championship Trophy on Saturday.

With 70 out of 124 teams filling the 35 bowl slots, the bowl season is set to kick-off this Saturday with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.  Though it is anticipated to be a sparse crowd, those who attend the game will undoubtedly see a high scoring affair.

The Arizona Wildcats (7-5, 4-5) and Nevada Wolf Pack(7-5, 4-4) will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the 7th annual Gildan New Mexico Bowl.  This bowl game has the makings of a high-scoring shoot-out.  Arizona first-year head coach Rich Rodriguez brought his spread offense to Tucson in which QB Matt Scott quickly garnered.  This season he has passed for 3,238 yards with 24 TDs.  The team is averaging an impressive 37.3 points per game.

The Wolf Pack, who average 37 points per game, will focus on the legs of RB Stefphon Jefferson who scampered for 1,703 yards with 22 TDs and the arm of QB Cody Fajardo who aired it out for 2,530 yards and 17 TDs this season.  Head coach Chris Ault is 2-7 in bowl games and hopes his pistol offense will be too much for the Wildcats to handle.

As for ticket sales, bowl representatives believe there will be a lot of empty seats at University Stadium.  Nevada has only sold about 1,000 of the 10,000 tickets required.  Meanwhile, Arizona has also sold about 1,000 of the 5,000 tickets required.  This leaves at least 13,000 empty seats in a stadium that holds 37,457.

Kick-off is set for December 15, 2012 (1:p.m. EST).
