CB Troy Woolfolk (#29) has "lack of respect" for Tate Forcier

Last season when Tate Forcier led the Wolverines in a last second game-winning drive over Notre Dame, it was announced that “a star was born.” Since that victorious September afternoon, Tate Forcier has done nothing for the program to exemplify that cry. At this year’s Big 10 media day, senior cornerback Troy Woolfolk called out the Wolverine’s signal caller for failing to be a leader off the field and failing to show that he deserves to be the starter. Apparently, Forcier doesn’t show up to all of the team’s voluntary practices, and when he does, he has a terrible work ethic which doesn’t sit well with the players.

Meanwhile, back-up QB Denard Robinson is garnering the respect of his teammates by showing up to the workouts, improving his passing skills and footwork, and most importantly, by making his teammates want to play hard. The players are taking notice of Robinson’s dedication which bodes confidence, something Forcier has lost.

Woolfolk has every right to be upset with Forcier’s attitude considering the Wolverines’ recent woes. However, he might have been better served if he kept this issue within the confines of the locker room. Blasting Forcier to the media will only create a divide among the players and his comments exude the lack of team unity within the Wolverine family.

As preseason kicks-off, the Forcier v. Robinson battle will certainly get heated creating a healthy competition between the two gun-slingers. However, Coach Rodriguez must not let it get out of hand as he is battling to save his own position, which can only be done with a confident QB and a team that is willing to listen.
