Court of Appeals rules against Mike Leach

It looks like Texas Tech cannot be touched, at least financially, when in comes to breach of contract claims. The state court of appeals agreed with Texas Tech and threw out former coach Mike Leach’s breach of contract claim for financial damages citing under the school’s sovereign immunity, Texas Tech cannot be sued unless the state granted permission or the school waived its immunity based on certain conduct. The firing of Leach back in 2009, after he allegedly mistreated...

Leach to fight the law

The legal cloud surrounding Mike Leach and Texas Tech University is going to get a little more clear today (unless Leach’s motion to continue is granted). Tommy Tuberville replaces the “Renaissance Man”

It looks like former Ole Miss and Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville will be back on the sidelines in 2010 as the new head coach for Texas Tech. It is no secret that Tuberville wanted to get back into coaching since he last turned in his whistle. He pretty much submitted his application to every D-1 coaching classified ad. Tuberville was an attractive option because he doesn’t have a lot of restrictions for personnel and most importantly he has no...

The source said Leach called a trainer and directed him...

Potts To Sit

Florida’s Tim Tebow may not be the only concussed QB to sit out on Saturday. Texas Tech’s Taylor Potts suffered a concussion last week in Tech’s game against New Mexico which earned him an overnight stay in a Lubbock hospital. Unlike the secrecy surrounding Tebow, TT coach Mike Leach has made it know that Potts will sit this week as a precautionary measure. TT will turn to former walk-on Steven Sheffield to lead the offense. Sheffield come off the...

No Tweet For You!

Texas Texas coach Mike Leach is making some changes in Lubbock. No, Texas Tech isn’t making coaching adjustment on the football field, but rather with his players’s twitter accounts. Leach has banned members of the Red Raider football team from twittering. The change in his policy comes after TT linebacker Marlon Williams twitted that he wondered why he was expected to be on time for a team meeting when his linebacker coach himself was running late. Leach and company...

OL Brandon Carter Suspended

A frustrated Texas Tech team not only lost 28-29 in a back-and-forth game with No. 17 Houston, but the team will be without the services of colorful OL Brandon Carter. Coach Mike Leach suspended Carter indefinitely for violating team rules. This is a huge hit for Tech as Carter is not a only a bodyguard for Potts, but he is also a captain of the team. As of now, the school is not releasing any other details regarding the...
