Matt Barkley to skip Senior Bowl

USC quarterback Matt Barkley will forgo the Senior Bowl as he is still recovering from an AC sprain to his right throwing shoulder suffered in a 38-28 loss to UCLA back on November 17th.  Barkley returned to USC for his senior season with high hopes of leading the Trojans to a national title while picking up the Heisman along the way.  Unfortunately, none of this happened. USC finished unranked at 7-6 capped by an embarrassing loss to Georgia Tech...

Trojans Include Twitter Handle On Player Bio’s

In another step to lure top talent and to let blue-chippers know that USC is the place to showcase your football talent, head coach Lane Kiffin and the Trojans are now including twitter handles on player bio’s. This risky move is an apparent attempt to keep prospective players virtually connected to current players without breaking any recruiting violations.    Twitter is certainly a wonderful tool that allows for instant communication without filter to a worldwide audience.  With that said, college football coaches such...

Mitch Mustain can’t catch a break

USC back-up QB Mitch Mustain cannot get confirmation from the team that he will start this week when the Fighting Irish travel to tinseltown for a classic college football rivalry. Starting QB Matt Barkley, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the first half of USC’s embarrassing loss to Oregon State last week, is listed as the starter despite being on crutches and in street clothes all this week. USC’s Matt Barkley injured, Mustain takes reins

As easy as it was to be a Trojan fan during the Reggie Bush days, the true loyalists are being put to the test. Last night, USC got trounced by Oregon State 36-7. To make matters work, the Trojans’ beloved starter QB Matt Barkley injured his left ankle on the final offensive play of the first half for the Trojans. He was helped off the field, but eventually was carted to the locker room and was deemed finished for...

Aaron Corp: Richmond’s new starter

Former SC Trojan and Villa Park native Aaron Corp has finally won the starting job at Richmond under 1st year head coach Latrell Scott. Corp, who is no stranger to QB battles, ousted sophomore John Laub in a tremendous QB competition. Corp, a red-shirt junior, transferred to Richmond after two seasons under Pete Carroll. It was anticipated that Corp would be the starter come 2009, but then-freshman Matt Barkley beat out Corp (who suffered a leg injury during preseason)....

Barkley still injured, Mustain waiting in the wings

SC’s Matt Barkley is having his right hand reexamined today after injuring it in Saturday’s spring game. During the 3rd quarter, Barkley struck DT Jurrell Casey’s helmet on his follow through. As a precautionary measure, Barkley was immediately taken out of the game to rest and ice his injured hand. Sheriff Lane Kiffin was displeased with the injury and tossed Casey out of the game for his aggressive play. Though we do not know the extent of Barkley’s injury, it...

Same Aaron, different Corp

Spring practice is a bit different for former Southern Cal QB Aaron Corp who now takes snaps at Robins Stadium. Last season at this time, he was the projected starter for the top ranked Trojans. After a knee injury sidelined the gun-slinger for much of spring practice, Pete Carroll’s prodigy Matt Barkley took over the team and never looked back. Corp did have one opportunity to shine as a Trojan when he was given the nod to start for an...

Under The Knife

USC QB Matt Barkley underwent wrist surgery earlier this week to repair damage suffered on his right wrist. The Trojans are hoping that Barkley makes a full recovery in time for the start of spring ball. USC welcomes new head coach Lane Kiffin and the coaching staff are hoping that Barkley can make it back by spring practice as Kiffin will be implementing a new offense for Barkley to run. As of now, Barkley and Mitch Mustain are the...
