Same Aaron, different Corp

A disgruntled Corp trades La-la land for the River City

Spring practice is a bit different for former Southern Cal QB Aaron Corp who now takes snaps at Robins Stadium. Last season at this time, he was the projected starter for the top ranked Trojans. After a knee injury sidelined the gun-slinger for much of spring practice, Pete Carroll’s prodigy Matt Barkley took over the team and never looked back.

Corp did have one opportunity to shine as a Trojan when he was given the nod to start for an injured Barkley against Washington. Unfortunately Corp had a sub-par performance, the team lost, and he subsequently fell deeper on the depth chart behind Barkley and Mitch Mustain.

Much to the dismay of Corp, at season’s end, he opted to transfer to the east coast for a roster spot on a talented Richmond Spiders squad. We are now starting to get a first look at Corp in his new uniform as the Spiders took the field for the first time this year.

Corp is in a fight for his life as a QB battle is brewing with John Laub and Nick Hicks for that starting spot. It must be humbling to go from the spotlight of Tinsel Town to the unglamorous Richmond, VA.

A question that must be lingering in Corp’s head–what if Carroll left before Corp opted to transfer? We will never know the answer to that question, but we do wish Corp the best of luck as strong QBs come out of subdivision teams.
