Boise State and Georgia to meet in Atlanta next season

Next year’s Chick-fil-A kickoff game will feature Boise State and Georgia. The two teams agreed terms to play in Atlanta on September 3, 2011. The game will be Boise’s second season-opener that the team will play on the road. Boise faced Virgina Tech earlier this season at Landover, MD’s, FedEx Field. Boise was originally scheduled to travel to Oxford, MS, to play the Ole Miss Rebels, but dropped them from the schedule for Georgia. The two schools rescheduled their meeting for the...

Mono, not UNC, sidelines VaTech’s David Wilson

Virginia Tech will be without one of their offensive playmakers this Saturday as sophomore tailback and return man David Wilson is a scratch for the upcoming game against North Carolina. According to athletic trainer Mike Goforth, Wilson was experiencing virus like symptoms all week which was ultimately diagnosed as Mononucleosis. This is a huge blow for the rebounding Hokies in a key Coastal match-up against the Tar Heels. The resurging Hokies will certainly miss Wilson’s 28.6 yards/kick-off return average...

The Impending Battle Out West

Although the season is still young, a potential game of epic proportion is looming out west. Reno, Nevada, could possibly be the site of college football’s most anticipated game of the year this November 26th when the Boise State Broncos come to town to take on the Nevada Wolf Pack. Tickets will be scarce as national title implications will more than likely be on the line when the two teams meet on the gridiron. College football analysts and followers...

Broncos buck the Hokies

It was a BCS-like bowl atmosphere inside FedEx Field last night as the Halloween themed Hokies took the field in the Battle in the Capital. Unfortunately, this game was no treat for VaTech as they fell to the Broncos 33-30. A stadium littered with drunk and screaming Hokies fans, quickly quieted as Boise State recovered a fumbled snap, blocked a punt, and held VaTech scoreless in the 1st quarter while taking a commanding 17-0 lead. After Tech overcame the nervous jitters,...

Boise State’s Chris Petersen bans Twitter usage by players

“I had fun with it, but I’m not having withdrawals. I can go without,” said safety Jeron Johnson. Johnson spoke these words to the Idaho Statesman concerning Boise State head coach Chris Petersen’s decision to ban his players from using the social networking website Twitter this season. Boise State opened fall practices last Friday with one goal in mind: win it ALL.  While some may question the practice of Petersen’s banning of Twitter, the truth remains that the coach...

Beamer Bails

Virgina Tech football received a crushing blow this past week. No, no members of the football team were arrested, but rather, head coach Frank Beamer tore his bicep after falling while exiting Va. Tech’s private plane upon landing at a stop on  the team’s Orange and Maroon tour. Beamer, ever the good sport, laughed off the incident: “It just chucked me,” said Beamer, laughing. “I thought I was being careful and the next thing that hit was my shoulder...
