Virginia Tech will be without one of their offensive playmakers this Saturday as sophomore tailback and return man David Wilson is a scratch for the upcoming game against North Carolina. According to athletic trainer Mike Goforth, Wilson was experiencing virus like symptoms all week which was ultimately diagnosed as Mononucleosis.
This is a huge blow for the rebounding Hokies in a key Coastal match-up against the Tar Heels. The resurging Hokies will certainly miss Wilson’s 28.6 yards/kick-off return average and his 462 rushing yards on the ground.
Wilson is expected to return to the team when the Hokies face the Miami Hurricanes November 20th. In the meantime, coach Frank Beamer announced RB Ryan Williams will replace the sidelined Wilson.
