Things were hotter than usual in Columbia, SC this weekend which resulted in the suspension of SC defensive end Clifton Geathers. Gathers was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public drunkeness. GQ Magazine is featuring a spread on college football’s most popular man. No, not Lou Holtz, but Tim Tebow is featured in the magazine’s latest edition. Word has it that they’re flying off of shelves in the south faster than Gen. Sherman burned through Atlanta. Yes ladies (and men), there is plenty of eye candy as Florida’s Superman poses shirtless for a few of the pics. We’re not too sure what Urban Meyerhas said to Tebow about this, and God...

Troy defensive back Jorrick Calvin has been ruled academically ineligible for the 2009 football season. Calvin was a solid and consistent contributor on last season’s Sun Belt conference championship team. The senior JUCO transfer accumulated 76 tackles and scored two touchdowns on special teams. He also intercepted two passes, recovered three fumbles, and had nine pass break-ups. The loss of his presence on defense will definitely be felt.   Unless Calvin is able to win an unlikely appeal, he will be watching Troy’s games from a distance.

Mike Gundy has issued a gag order for his Cowboys squad. Gundy has laid down the law and is not allowing the media to speak to his team and vise versa for the next 10 days. The Cowboys open the season against the Georgia Bulldogs on September 5th and it seems as if Coach Gundy is going in to full-time game prep mode and doesn’t want any unnecessary distractions. The Cowboys are expected to be a force in the Big...
