QB’s father speaks out

Maryland is 2-5 and the Terrapins’ fansjust about had enough. Once fan in particular is criticizing the team and is hitting the internet hard spreading his “love” of AD Debbie Yow. Now for fans to gripe and call for the firing of certain individuals, it’s quite normal. But when the fan is the father of Maryland’s starting QB Chris Turner, then you’ve just created an uncomfortable embattlement for your son. Here is what pop’s had to say: “Get rid of Yow,”...

The fans cheer, Groh Must Go!

There is a rumor swirling around Charlottesville that coach Al Groh may be packing his bags sooner than expected. After last weeks crushing blow courtesy of William & Mary (26-14), UVA was hoping for a good show against visiting TCU. Unfortunately, Groh’s offense couldn’t muster any points until late in the 4th quarter when the game was already decided. The Cavs’ defense showed some signs of hope, but in the end, TCU was just too powerful and left UVA...

The ACC Embarrassment

The Matador received heavy criticism for his early preseason bashing of the ACC.  If we learned anything from week 1, The Matador wasn’t too far off the mark. The two inexcusable beatings landed at the hands of Duke losing to Richmond 16-24 and lowly UVA being ousted by in-state rival William & Mary 14-26. Another game that set the conference back was Cal thumping Maryland 52-13. The ACC did have some close games that came down to 4th quarter...

More Injuries for Miami

The Miami Hurricanes are entering tomorrow night’s showdown against Florida State with more injuries than a M*A*S*H episode. The ‘Canes will play Florida State tomorrow night down two defensive players. Defensive back Ryan Hill, and safety Vaughn Telemaque, were injured on Saturday during the last Miami practice before their season opener. The extent of the injuries are unknown, as Miami has only confirmed that the two suffered injuries to their “upper extremities”. Senior Ryan Hill played in 13 games for...

Paulus Gets a “C”

Greg Paulus must be a special person. Not only was he named the starting quarterback last week for the Orange, but the team just voted Paulus as one of four team captains. Paulus is no stranger to the responsibilities of being captain as he was an All-American two time captain for Coach K and Duke. Paulus is clearly making a solid impression with his coaches and teammates and is taking advantage of his final year of college eligibility. From...

H1N1 Hits Tuscaloosa?

Though the exact illness has not been determined, Alabama players are showing signs of H1N1 symptoms. The Tide are reporting that at least 10 players have been hit with this flu-like symptom. The biggest name to report having this illness is All-American defensive tackle Terrence Cody. Commenting on the illness, Nick Saban states,  “I’m no doctor. I’m not a physician. I don’t really want to compare or predict because I really don’t know, but the guys that have been...

Kinney Rucker is Out

It looks like Duke is taking another hit. Senior and Durham native DT Kinney Rucker  (6-2, 290 lbs) is out indefinitely with an injured foot. Rucker is coming off of surgery last month by Dr. Mark Easley to repair a torn planter plate in his right foot. Last season Rucker had 21 tackles and was expected to back up Vince Oghobaase. While he is being monitored, his return date is not known at this time. Coach Cutcliffe stated, “At this point,...
