South Carolina has a daunting challenge this Saturday as they travel down to Tuscaloosa to face the #2 Crimson Tide. This challenge just got a little tougher as the university just confirmed that RB Jarvis Giles is suspended for the Alabama game. Per the norm, the suspension is for an undisclosed violation of team rules. It remains to be seen the duration of Giles’ suspension. South Carolinais heading into Saturday’s match-up against Kentucky without star TE Weslye Saunders. Saunders injured his ankle in last week’s beat-down of South Carolina State. The 6’5 TE aggravated the ankle which has given him troubles before in the past. In his absence, SC will be forced to start Justice Cunningham. Cunningham has seen action in all of South Carolina’s games this season so they will have some experience to turn to while Saunders recovers.

South Carolina’s 16-10 win over Ole Miss comes with a small price tag. Unfortunately, the Gamecocks’ DT Travian Robertson will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Robertson suffered this season ending injury during the 3rd quarter of Thursday’s game. Georgia fans are being asked by school officials to make a better effort to clean up after themselves following home football games. According to UGA president Michael Adams, tailgaters left behind 70 tons of trash following Georgia’s Sept. 12th game against South Carolina. That’s right, SEVENTY tons. Ole Miss DE Greg Hardy will not suit up this Saturday for the Rebels’s second game of the season against Southeastern Louisiana. Things were hotter than usual in Columbia, SC this weekend which resulted in the suspension of SC defensive end Clifton Geathers. Gathers was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public drunkeness.
