Hoopster Cliff Tucker hits the gridiron

After four seasons on the Maryland basketball team, 6’6 senior guard Cliff Tucker officially traded-in his high-tops for football cleats. Much to the delight of QB Danny O’Brien, Cliff Tucker will be showcased as the Terrapins’ new deep threat playing wide receiver. Tucker, who hails from El Paso, Texas, is no stranger to football as he was a well known star amassing 939 receiving yards and 19 TDs during his senior year for Chapin High School. Several Big 12...

Maryland’s Danny O’Brien named ACC Rookie of the Year

Maryland’s redshirt freshman QB Danny O’Brien became the first Terrapin to win the coveted ACC Rookie of the Year award. The 6’3, 215 lbs O’Brien easily won with landslide numbers taking 54 of the possible 61 votes. He is the key reason why Maryland boasts an 8-4 record and flirted for the Atlantic Division Title well into the season. The Big (East) Debacle

The Big East continues to sink further into the depths of irrelevance and the calls for the conference to lose its automatic qualifying bid grow louder and louder. As we are well into the college football season, there is no Big East team in the Top 25. The conference has failed miserably in its non-conference play boasting a combined record of 19-14, average at best. However, when you consider 9 out of the 19 wins came against DI-AA teams,...

Friedgen feeling the pressure as Terps head into ACC play

Carrying an impressive 3-1 record, the Maryland Terrapins will host ACC foe Duke this Saturday at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium in College Park, MD. Saturday’s game against Duke will be Maryland’s first conference game of the season. Although the season is very young, the lack of a presence of a truly dominate team in the conference makes the race for the ACC seem wide open this year. Expectations in College Park, and among Maryland alumni are high for the Terps...

Is the Friedgen era coming to an end?

Terrapin fans don’t have a lot to be optimistic about when it comes to Maryland football and all eyes will be on Ralph Friedgen in 2010. The former Maryland player took over the coaching reigns in 2001 and led the team to a spectacular 10-2 record and a top ten finish. Nine years later, Friedgen satisfied the prognosticators by going 2-10 and finishing the regular season with the team’s first ten-loss season in school history. As training camp opens,...

The Irish and Terps to Play at FedEx in 2011

Notre Dame and Maryland will meet on November 12, 2011, at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. As of last year, Notre Dame’s athletic department decided to play one home game a year away from South Bend. As a result, the Irish played Washington State in San Antonio last season at the Alamodome, and are scheduled to play at the new Yankee Stadium against Army next season. While D.C. has a large number of Notre Dame alums, the University of Maryland is only 15...
