OSU tackles and suspends Small

The 96th Rose Bowl is getting a little more interesting as both Oregon and Ohio State are dealing with shrinking rosters.

The Oregon Ducks have just announced that back-up WR Jamere Holland is academically ineligible for post season play. During the season, he amassed 13 catches for 199 yards and 2 TDs. The Eugene Register-Guard reported that this is nothing new for Holland and the Ducks as he has been dealing with academic issues all throughout his collegiate career. Word on the street is, he may not be playing next season.

As for the Buckeyes, Jim Tressel is not only dealing with the academic suspension of WR Duron Carter, but now he has to deal with the suspensions of WR Ray Small and back-up DL Rob Rose. According to sources, the two players were suspended for violating unspecified team rules.

Both players are seniors and will never wear the Buckeye uniform again. Needless to say, the Buckeyes’ depth chart at wide receiver is shrinking.

Also, with Small out of the picture, the Buckeyes are losing their fastest player who averages 27 yards per kick-off return. The Buckeyes are schedules to head for Pasadena on the 25th, who knows who is actually going to be on that plane.

The Matador will keep you posted as we get closer to kick-off.
