The 10 Most Embarrassing Moments In NCAA History

We all love to see the embarrassing “Not Top 10″ plays where a player, say, picks up a football and runs it into the wrong endzone. It’s lighthearted fun that no doubt leaves the player feeling a bit sheepish for a little while. But sometimes, sports programs find themselves embroiled in much deeper, much more disgraceful scenarios of their own design. These highly public embarrassments can ruin lives, cost schools thousands or millions of dollars, and leave the entire...

10 Colleges With the Most Powerful Coaches

Ideally, colleges should be well-known, desirable, and popular because of the high quality of educational resources they offer students and other members of the community. Yet, here in the U.S. that’s not always the case. Many schools’ academic programs are eclipsed by the overwhelming popularity of their sports teams, and for better or worse that has made the coaches and head administrators of these teams incredibly powerful figures that dominate what has now become a billion-dollar industry for colleges...

Is Fickell the best choice for OSU?

There is no question Luke Fickell has a passion for Ohio State football, but as the program is in the aftermath of Jim Tressel and an ongoing NCAA investigation, did athletic director Gene Smith make the right decision in naming Fickell head coach? Ohio State has a tarnished reputation amidst the cash and tattoo scandal. In an opportunity to show the public that the university wants to change its image, the AD made a questionable move by hiring an...

“VEST IN PEACE” Jim Tressel

At first, the Family Clothesline in Happy Valley decided to cash-in on former Buckeye coach Jim Tressel by mocking him with the “Legends” and “Liars” t-shirt. It now appears the trash talking has moved north to Ann Arbor, Michigan. The maize and blue may have created one of its better rivalry motivated shirts with the launch of the “VEST IN PEACE” t-shirt. As facts continue to surface in OSU, there will certainly be no shortage of jokes aimed at...

Minor league baseball team takes shot at Jim Tressel

The Fort Myers Miracle, a Class A affiliation of the Minnesota Twins, recognizes the impact Ohio State’s Jim Tressel left behind amidst serious NCAA violations looming over the Buckeye nation. So much so, the minor league baseball team announced a unique promotional night to temper the havoc caused by Tressel who surprisingly submitted his letter of resignation yesterday. The Miracle will have a “Rest the Vest” night at Hammond Stadium this Monday when the team hosts the Jupiter Hammerheads....

Paterno a “Legend,” Tressel a “Liar”

The Family Clothesline on East College Avenue in State College, PA, is taking a jab at Ohio State’s Jim Tressel. Upon Tressel receiving national attention for his lack of veracity regarding the Ohio State five, the Family Clothesline wanted to cash-in with the release of a new t-shirt aimed at Tressel. The retail store designed a t-shirt that showcased Joe Paterno as a “Legends” and Jim Tressel as a “Liars.” The t-shirt features a picture of JoePa’s trademark Coke-bottle...

It’s time for OSU to part ways with Jim Tressel

Ohio State hired Jim Tressel before the 2001 season to replace John Cooper and to revive its struggling program. Since then, Tressel has brought to Columbus a national championship, three BCS championship births, 7 Big Ten conference titles, a Heisman Trophy, and complete domination over rival Michigan. Unfortunately, the legendary Tressel has also brought shame to this storied program that cannot be overlooked. Under his watch, their have been numerous arrests, questions about recruiting, and concerns regard players receiving extra...

Is Kirk Ferentz the most overrated coach in college football? Pt. 2

The first part of this Iowa news series received such a warm reception by Hawkeye Nation, hopefully part two promises more of the same. Apparently, Hawkeye football in Iowa is more popular than corn subsidies. Iowans from Sioux City to Waterloo either left comments or shot-off emails, sticking up for their head coach, with some using a few choice words to do so.  Nonetheless, I would not expect any different from any true college football fan in coming to the aid and defense of their...
