It’s comforting to see a school not prematurely throw back injured athletes onto the field for the sake of winning. Much to the dismay of the Cowboys faithful, Oklahoma State’s Dez Bryant will be held out of today’s game against Grambling State. The top WR in the nation is still nursing a tweaked hamstring and the school believes the best course of action would be to rest Bryant until he is fully recovered (Pete Carroll, please take notes).
The Cowboys’ offense will also be without star RB Kendall Hunter as he is still dealing with a leg injury. CB Parrish Cox is also sidelined due to his shoulder injury. Fortunately, the loss of both offensive studs and CB Cox won’t be too much of a concern against Grambling State. The Tigers are a middle of the road FCS school and, with no disrespect, don’t have the talent or the depth to keep this game close.
Resting the stars is a good move for the Cowboys as they have a bye week next Saturday which will provide for additional time to get Bryant and company back to 100% before their Big 12 home opener against Texas A&M.
