Jamar Hornsby

The AP is reporting that Ole Miss signee Jamar Hornsby is expected to appear in court this Friday where he will be indicted on felony aggravated assault and petit larceny charges. Hornsby was arrested in March of this year for beating up a man after a minor car accident. Hornsby beat the victim with brass knuckles, sending him to the hospital for required treatment.

In addition the this incident, Hornsby is currently on probation after being convicted of credit card fraud in Gainesville, Florida. In 2007, Hornsby pleaded guily to the charge after it was made known that he had stolen a dead woman’s credit card and accrued a significant amount of debt with it. The transgression resulted in him being dismissed from the Florida Gators. Hornsby then attended East Mississippi Community College before being signed by Houston Nutt at Ole Miss.

When asked whether or not Hornsby would be playing for the Rebels this fall, Nutt said, “I’m going to wait ’til Friday, “I told everyone I’m waiting, gathering all the facts, before I make a decision.”
