Take A Timeout On The Flags

College football is a game of passion, emotion, and energy. However, refs have taken it too far with penalizing every little celebration for excessive celebration. Many times, these calls have altered the outcome of the game which is totally ridiculous.  Last week Georgia’s A.J. Green caught the seemingly game winning touchdown against LSU with under a minute the go in the 4th quarter. After snagging the pass and scoring, Green was justifiably excited and celebrated with his teammates in...

Potts To Sit

Florida’s Tim Tebow may not be the only concussed QB to sit out on Saturday. Texas Tech’s Taylor Potts suffered a concussion last week in Tech’s game against New Mexico which earned him an overnight stay in a Lubbock hospital. Unlike the secrecy surrounding Tebow, TT coach Mike Leach has made it know that Potts will sit this week as a precautionary measure. TT will turn to former walk-on Steven Sheffield to lead the offense. Sheffield come off the...

Traveling Man

There was a time with Mitch Mustain was one of the most highly touted recruits in the country. He committed to Arkansasand people in Fayetteville thought that they’d see multiple national championships with him behind center. Mustain was one of the most decorated HS recruits in history winning the 2005 Gatorade, Parade, and USA Today player of the year awards. My how the times have changed. Fast forward four years and not only is Mustain not at Arkansas, but he’s so far back...

SC’s Saunders Out

South Carolinais heading into Saturday’s match-up against Kentucky without star TE Weslye Saunders. Saunders injured his ankle in last week’s beat-down of South Carolina State. The 6’5 TE aggravated the ankle which has given him troubles before in the past. In his absence, SC will be forced to start Justice Cunningham. Cunningham has seen action in all of South Carolina’s games this season so they will have some experience to turn to while Saunders recovers.

Upshaw’s Law

Alabama’s Courtney Upshaw has been court ordered to take anger management classes for a misdemeanor domestic violence and harassment charge. The charge stems from an incident this past August where both Upshaw and his girlfriend were arrested for an altercation that occurred in the parking lot of Alabama’s campus recreation center. From the beginning, Upshaw has had the support of his coach Nick Saban, who believes that the incident was a lapse in judgement by Upshaw, and that Upshaw is a good...

Oklahoma’s season hasn’t quite gone as planned. It’s only the fifth week of the season and they’ve been without their Heisman Trophy winner QB since week 1, their All-American TE’s season has been cut short because of injury, and now they’re going to be without their leading WR for possibly a month. Ryan Broyles suffered a fractured shoulder blade early in OU’s Saturday night primetime showdown with Miami, and he’s going to be sidelined for 2-4 weeks. Throw in...

Jacobson Sidelined For Cougs’

BYU wideout McKay Jacobson will miss 4-6 for the Cougars with a strained hamstring. Jacobson suffered the injury during warm-ups before BYU’s game against Utah State on Saturday. An MRI was done and confirmed that it was a high hamstring heal, which generally takes a while to heal. In Jacobson’s absence, BYU will look to Luke Ashworth, and O’Neill Chambers to bear the load at WR. In 4 games this season, Jacobson has 280 yards and 3 TDs.

Moore Suffers Concussion

The 2009 NCAA interception leader suffered a concussion today against Stanford. Rahim Moore, UCLA’s free safety, injured himself while making a tackle in the second quarter of UCLA’s matchup with Stanford. To make matters worse, the hit resulted in a personal foul being called on Moore for hitting Stanford TE Coby Fleener. No timetable has been set for Moore’s return but the Bruins are hoping to have him back sooner than later. He already has a NCAA high 5 interceptions...
