Tim Tebow’s Heisman pose will forever remain

The home of the Florida Gators, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, is getting a new face, actually three new faces. The University Athletic Association approved to honor the Gators’ 3 Heisman Trophy winners by memorializing their accomplishments in individual life-like statues. Tim Tebow (2007), Danny Wuerffel (1996), and Steve Spurrier (1966) will be forever bronzed on the west side of the Swamp. In the words of AD Jeremy Foley, “Any time you have that type of tradition, we want to make...

LB Jarvis Jones (#10) transfer to Georgia after USC refused to medically clear the rising star

In the end, Georgia won the recruiting battle for LB Jarvis Jones. The Columbus, Georgia native originally chose USC over in-state powerhouse Georgia. USC dubbed Jones as the next great Trojan linebacker. As a true freshman, he played special teams and reserve strongside linebacker. However, against Oregon he suffered a severe neck injury that sidelined the rising star. He did not see the field after that, missing USC’s remaining five games. Will there be an exodus from Troy?

In the aftermath of the fall of Troy, the NCAA cleared the way for USC juniors and seniors to-be to transfer from the team without being forced to sit out a season. Schools are now free to initiate contact with such players who fall into this category. The NCAA rule allows for a waiver to be granted if the school has a postseason ban in place during the transfer. Unfortunately, this rule does not apply to USC freshman who have recently...
