For all the Fayetteville faithful, have no fear if you see QB Ryan Mallett back on crutches for the next month. Earlier this week, Mallett underwent surgery on his left foot to replace a screw that was originally inserted in the winter. The surgical procedure is all part of the recovery and rehabilitation process which is going well. Coach Bobby Petrino stated that there is no reason to be alarmed and he expects to have his star QB back on the field in true form come kick-off 2010.
Mallett missed all of spring practice this year and will probably not see the field until late June. The Razorbacks are taking their time with their Heisman hopeful as Arkansas plans on making a serious run for the SEC crown which rest on the hands of Mallett.
Mallett had a remarkable 2009 season passing for 3,627 yards and 30 TDs. He broke or tied over 16 school records. Mallett has a strong arm with good vision. With him under center, SEC defenses should be concerned.
