Tim Tebow’s Heisman pose will forever remain

The home of the Florida Gators, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, is getting a new face, actually three new faces. The University Athletic Association approved to honor the Gators’ 3 Heisman Trophy winners by memorializing their accomplishments in individual life-like statues. Tim Tebow (2007), Danny Wuerffel (1996), and Steve Spurrier (1966) will be forever bronzed on the west side of the Swamp.

In the words of AD Jeremy Foley, “Any time you have that type of tradition, we want to make sure to honor it. . . . People are aware of them, obviously, but they can come and take pictures of them. And that’s how you build tradition. You go to a lot of schools that have several Heisman Trophy winners and they have displays, they have statues, what have you. It’s just building tradition and honoring three very special people.”

Expect to see these larger than life statues in 2012. The statues are being funded by over $550,000 in private donations.
