USC’s Carswell transfers to Cincinnati

Lane Kiffin’s depth chart continues to shrink as sources indicate USC’s wide receiver Brandon Carswell is transferring to Cincinnati to join former USC teammate Vidal Hazelton. The junior WR is free to transfer without sitting a season per USC’s NCAA sanctions. This is the fourth player in as many days to defect from USC because of the heavy sanctions levied against the team. This isn’t a significant blow for the team as Carswell was very limited in production last...

Big Ten should say “NO” to Lambeau

In the wake of Nebraska joining the Big 10 after this season, several venues have shown interest in hosting the Big 10 championship game (assuming the conference agrees to have one). Initially, Indianapolis and Detroit, both indoor stadiums, were considered front-runners but now other venues want to be in the mix. Recently, Chicago’s Soldier Field and Cleveland Brown’s Stadium submitted their names for consideration. To continue the theme of outdoor venues, Green Bay’s Lambeau Field just announced its intentions of...

Ex-Cougar becomes a Bear

BYU’s RB Harvey Unga and Illinois’ DT Josh Price-Brent were the only two collegiate players drafted in the 2010 NFL Supplemental Draft today. The Chicago Bears added BYU’s all-time leading rusher to its already crowded backfield with Matt Forte, Chester Taylor, Garrett Wolfe, Khalil Bell and Brandon Minor all itching for the ball. The Dallas Cowboys picked up a strong tackle in Josh Price-Brent who is poised to back-up pro bowler Jay Ratliff. Both players were selected in the...

Jacory Harris is all thumbs up

Six months after surgery, Miami’s QB Jacory Harris is still recovering from the torn ligament damage sustained last season in his throwing hand. A confident Harris spoke to the media yesterday and reiterated that he will be ready for the September 2nd season opener despite missing all of spring practice and only throwing on a limited reps basis. Fortunately for the Canes, Miami opens the season with Florida A&M, a game in which Harris will not even see the...

Bobby Johnson, Vanderbilt part ways

Less than 2 months before the season opener against Northwestern, word out in Nashville is Vanderbilt’s Bobby Johnson was forced to resign today. There are mixed reports about the reason for his resignation, but you really don’t have to look further than his record after 8 season, 29-66. His only on-the-field highlight was a 16-14 win over Boston College in the 2008 Music City Bowl. In 2009, he was 0-8 in SEC play and only managed to win 2...

He compiled a 122-40 record during his tenure. In 2008, after a thrilling Capital One Bowl victory over the...

Carroll: “I do feel responsible,” now buy my book

Pete Carroll, the former USC head coach, is starting to feel a little remorse for certain Reggie Bush events that took place during his tenure that left the program with a two year bowl ban and a loss of 30 scholarships. But as he was addressing the media during his book tour, you got the sense that he believes he didn’t do anything wrong and he maintains the school was unfairly punished. He also reiterated that he did not...

The UCF Knights enter the 2010 season as a favorite to win the C-USA East crown, but for UCF, there is already one Knight who reigns King Queen, Miss Jaclyn “Jackie” Raulerson. Last night, the Delta Delta Delta sorority member won the 2010 Miss Florida Pageant. The Oviedo native competed against a multitude of UCF sorority girls amongst other contestants, but stood out from the competition taking home the crown. Incidentally, the 2009 Miss Florida, Rachael Todd, was also a UCF Knight...
