BYU's all-time leading rusher, Harvey Unga, was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2010 NFL Supplemental Draft today

BYU’s RB Harvey Unga and Illinois’ DT Josh Price-Brent were the only two collegiate players drafted in the 2010 NFL Supplemental Draft today. The Chicago Bears added BYU’s all-time leading rusher to its already crowded backfield with Matt Forte, Chester Taylor, Garrett Wolfe, Khalil Bell and Brandon Minor all itching for the ball. The Dallas Cowboys picked up a strong tackle in Josh Price-Brent who is poised to back-up pro bowler Jay Ratliff. Both players were selected in the 7th and final round of the draft which means the two teams will forfeit their 7th round pick in the 2011 draft.

The supplemental draft is intended for players who miss the filing deadline for April’s draft. Very few players get drafted in the supplemental draft and since its inception in 1977, only 40 players have been drafted. Last year, only Kentucky’s Jeremy Jarmon was drafted selected in the 3rd round by the Washington Redskins. Players who do not get drafted in the supplemental draft become rookie free agents and are free to sign with any team.
