The Minnesota Golden Gophers are set to open their new football stadium, TCF Bank Stadium, come September 12, 2009, when coach Tim Brewster and company host the Air Force Falcons. This outdoor stadium is a vast improvement from the Metrodome with top notch facilities and great views from every seat. The Nittany Lions are down a LB. Sophomore LB Michael Mauti may have torn his ACL during a scrimmage this past Sunday. The injury occurred at Beaver Stadium while Mauti was pursuing running back Brandon Beachum on a sweep play. Mauti went to cut after Beachum, and he tangled his knee causing the injury. South Florida lost junior RB Jamar Taylor to an MCL injury during preseason practice. The Bulls have not disclosed the severity of the injury; however, during Fan Fest, Taylor was on crutches and had his right knee wrapped on ice. Coach Jim Leavitt stated that the team will not know the exact extent of the injury until Monday. QB Jaybo Shaw breaks Collarbone

Georgia Tech’s sophomore back-up QB Jaybo Shaw sustained an unfortunate injury by breaking his collarbone during this Saturday’s scrimmage. As a result, the extent of his 2009 playing career is still to be determined. Doug Marrone is facing a daunting challenge as head coach of Syracuse. It appears his challenge just got a little harder. This past week, JUCO transfer Derek Hines unexpectedly packed up his bags and left the program after four practices.
