Georgia Tech’s sophomore back-up QB Jaybo Shaw sustained an unfortunate injury by breaking his collarbone during this Saturday’s scrimmage. As a result, the extent of his 2009 playing career is still to be determined. It is anticipated that he will miss approximately 2 months and the team may elect to redshirt Shaw and move up Tevin Washington in the rotation.
Last season, Shaw showed signs of promise during his start against Duke. He played well going 9-14 for 230 yards in a 27-0 thumping of Duke. He also played a significant role in the Yellow Jackets 38-7 win over Mississippi State.
Coach Paul Johnson has been excited about Shaw’s performance thus far in camp and was disappointed to learn of the injury. The team stated the injury occurred when a teammate fell on Shaw after he completed a pass.
