Lobos master three punch combo

New Mexico continues to knock itself out of contention. First, Mike Locksley is serving a one game suspension for punching assistant coach George Barlow. Second, New Mexico’s AD punches the team by throwing a two game suspension to freshman wide receiver Ty Kirk for violation of team rules. The knock out punch is for the fans, because Kirk is the second leading receiver on the team, amassing a team high 206 yards and 1 TD. Now what on earth...

Big 10 strengthens bowl line-up

Starting next season, the Big 10 will have a few new bowl games to consider. The conference signed with the Gator, Texas and Dallas bowls. The conference also extended an eight year contract with the Rose Bowl. In response to adding the new bowls, the Big 10 dumped its affiliation with the Alamo, Champs and Motor City bowls. This is a strong move for the Big 10 as the conference has a lot to prove based on its poor...

Suspended license = Suspended for game

Georgia’s back-up CB Vance Cuff decided to take a shortcut after a long day at the football facility, but his quest to save time proved to be costly. After practice, Cuff jumped on his scooter and cut through a street that was closed for construction. Unfortunately, his little scooter caught the eyes of University of Georgia police. Upon pulling over Cuff, it was discovered that his driver’s license was suspended. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges to include driving on a...

Boom days for Herron

Ohio State’s Daniel “Boom” Herron’s ankle sprain continues to haunt the star running back. As you recall, Boom suffered a high ankle sprain earlier in the season when the Buckeyes trounced the Illini back in September. Unfortunately, he missed the next game and then returned against Wisconsin. However, during his victorious efforts, he aggravated the ankle injury in the second quarter and did not return. The AD just announced that Boom will not be playing this weekend against Purdue...

Doster stunned, off the team

What is going on over at Vandy? First, the team lost a heart breaking game to Army this past weekend. Yes, the mighty SEC lost to Army. Now Vandy is dealing with another loss. Vanderbilt just announced the indefinite suspension of sophomore RB Jermaine Doster following his arrest by Nashville police the day before the Army game (Doster wasn’t on the traveling team). Coach Bobby Johnson confirmed the suspension today. Apparently, Doster was in a late night melee in...

Iowa down a kick returner

Iowa’s gunning to be #1 in the Big 10, but they will now be without their #1 kick returner in Paul Chaney, Jr. Unfortunately, Iowa just reported that Chaney will miss the rest of the season after he injured his knee in last Saturday’s 30-28 win over the Michigan Wolverines. Though there isn’t a lot of detail, but due to the length of his absence, it’s possible Chaney tore his ACL.  Meanwhile the team will have to find someone to replace the...

Floyd ready to play?

In an ongoing effort to continue the exploitation of today’s college athletes, Charlies Weis is ready to suit up Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd after suffering a broken collarbone. If you don’t recall, earlier in the season, Floyd suffered from a broken left collarbone when landing awkwardly in the end-zone against the Spartans.  Apparently, his September 20th surgery was more successful than anticipated as the team is ready to suit up Floyd for this week’s practices. If things go well for Floyd, Weis is confident we will...
