Harbaugh Receives Contract Extension

Stanford has reward Jim Harbaugh’s success with a 3 year contract extension. The new deal will keep him in Palo Alto through 2014.  Stanford alum and fans were unsure about his status over the past couple weeks as rumors swirled concerning Harbaugh possibly heading to Notre Dame. However, those fears were quelled last Thursday as Brian Kelly announced he was heading to South Bend. Harbaugh has compiled a 17-19 record at Stanford and has guided them to 8 wins this season. The Cardinal will...

Family Ties

Two Harbaughs will be roaming the sidelines during Stanford’s Sun Bowl appearance against the Oklahoma Sooners. Jack Harbaugh, father of Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh, was hired as an interim running backs coach for the Cardinal for their bowl game. Stanford was left without a running backs coach after Willie Taggart bolted for the head coaching gig at Western Kentucky. Rather than have to rearrange things from within the coaching staff, Jim Harbaugh gave a call to his old...

Houston Nutt’s Pathetic Attempt At Publicity

It what is seeming like a yearly occurrence, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt is publicly spurning  “perceived offers” from other programs. Last year it was Auburn, this year it’s Kansas. Nutt and Ole Miss athletic director Pete Boone issued a statement after media outlets leaked info that Nutt was interested in the Kansas job. Houston, please stop trying to shamelessly promote yourself. Nutt seems to be running a sort of personal PR campaign for himself that only makes him look foolish. You’re not...

Ho Ho Hostesses!

The Tennessee Kiffins are in the news again. This time over potential recuriting violations concerning female student ambassadors (hostesses). Kiffin and Co. are rumored to have been sending females UT hostesses to recruits’ high school football games with signs and banners pleading to get the kids to sign with UT. Lord only knows what else these young women have been doing in exchange for verbal commits. Now Mr. Miles isn’t insinuating that any promiscuous activity is going on with these young women, but...

The $5M Dollar Man

Not only is Mack Brown headed to Pasadena for the 2010 BCS National Championship, he’s also just been made the highest paid D1 college football coach. Texas awarded Brown with a $2 million dollar raise fresh after a Big XII championship win over Nebraska. Brown will be receiving $5M anually for the rest of his time at Texas. Life is good for Brown these days. $5 mil in Austin, Texas is like a fridge full of food in Somalia,...

Invite Him And They Will Come

The Gator Bowl (Florida State vs. West  Virginia) has added 6,000 additional seats for FSU coach Bobby Bowden’s curtain call, bringing the stadium’s capacity to 83,500 for this year’s edition. The highly anticipated Gator Bowl sold out in a little under two hours after the match-up was announced this past Sunday. Bowden will ride off into the sunset after the January 1st tussle, leaving behind a legacy in Tallahassee. Sure the old man has lost his touch over the...

2010 Rose Bowl

The 2010 Rose Bowl (Oregon vs. Ohio State) has Mr. Miles excited for all sorts of reasons. First and foremost, I would like to see nothing more than Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli get his bell rung one good time by the Buckeye‘s defense. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy watching Oregon and I’ve been impressed with the job that first year coach Chip Kelly has done. But if I have to watch Masoli jump around one more time after...

The Gatornaughts Jumping Ship???

Fresh off the heels of a surprising blowout loss to Alabama, four Gators look to have their sights set on the riches of the NFL. According to a writer for the Gainesville Sun, The Pouncey  twins (Maurkice & Mike), reserve RB Chris Rainey, and semi-starter SS Ahmad Black all are considering bolting from Gainesville after this season. The four, affectionately called the Lakeland Gatornaughts, came to Florida from Lakeland High School after playing there together all four years for the Dreadnaughts.....
