Jack Harbaugh To Join Stanford Coaching Staff For Sun Bowl
Two Harbaughs will be roaming the sidelines during Stanford’s Sun Bowl appearance against the Oklahoma Sooners. Jack Harbaugh, father of Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh, was hired as an interim running backs coach for the Cardinal for their bowl game. Stanford was left without a running backs coach after Willie Taggart bolted for the head coaching gig at Western Kentucky. Rather than have to rearrange things from within the coaching staff, Jim Harbaugh gave a call to his old man who was more than happy to oblige.
The elder Harbaugh has an impressive resume as he led Western Kentucky to the D1-AA football championship in 2002, a feat that garnered him that year’s national coach of the year honors. He should fit in well nicely for one game and will definitely make use of Doak Walker winner Toby Gerhart.
