He’s back. Not even six months removed from live saving re-constructive throat surgery, USC’s Stafon Johnson will take the field for the first time since his injury in the 2010 Senior Bowl. Texas junior Brandon Collins has been dismissed from the football team after being arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity . Collins is using a redshirt this year and hasn’t played in any of the team’s football games this season. Collins was ruled academically ineligible for this season which forced Texas to burn a redshirt season on him. Patterson’s has led this year’s TCU team to their first undefeated regular season since 1938, and a Fiesta Bowl match-up against Boise State. Kentucky’s Brooks Retires

Rich Brooks announced today that he will not return as Kentucky’s football coach next season. Brooks is stepping down after seven years as the team’s coach. Joker Phillips, the team’s offensive coordinator, will replace Brooks. Phillips was named the team’s coach in waiting two season ago. Brooks compiled a 39-47 record with Kentucky and recently led them the four straight bowl games. He will go down in UK history as one of their better coaches and he’s left the program...

Tennessee safety Eric Berry announced Thursday night that he will be leaving UT early for the NFL. Berry made the announcement shortly after Virgina Tech steamrolled the Vols 37-14. Times are good in Boise, Idaho. No, a new Mormon temple isn’t opening, but the football team is heading to Phoenix, Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl. The football team will be minus three freshman. WR Preston Minter, RB Malcom Johnson, and CB Raphiel Lambert were M.I.A. when the team arrived in Phoenix this morning. Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has been suspended by the university and will not coach the Red Raiders in their Alamo Bowl match-up against Michigan State amid accusations that Leach abused Tech WR Adam James.
