Coach Brian Johnson, 24, takes over the Utah offense

If the name Brian Johnson does not mean anything to you, just ask the Alabama faithful. Back in the ’08 season, Johnson was the MVP quarterback who lead Utah to a shocking 31-17 victory over No. 4 Alabama in the BCS Sugar Bowl. The former QB, who stunned the Crimson Tide, is moving up the ranks in the coaching carousel from Utah quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator. Johnson, at the ripe old age of 24, is taking over offensive duties...

The Mountain West looks for a new image, goes boxy

Earlier today, the Mountain West Conference released a new logo and theme. Unfortunately, the logo and theme are about as unimaginative as the Conference’s new tagline “This is our Time” and nickname “The Rock.” The release, which was supposed to mark a new era for a Conference that has only been around for 13-years, is somewhat of a disappointment. The “This is or Time” tagline doesn’t really mean anything when the conference just lost BYU and Utah this year,...

Return to Sender: USC stripped of ’04 Grantland Rice Trophy

The hits just keep on coming for the Trojans. The 2004 Grantland Rice Trophy, awarded by the Football Writers Association of America to the nation’s top college football team, has been stripped from the program. The committee voted and agreed that USC was not deserving of the award due to its most recent NCAA rules...

Utah reportedly to join Pac-10 as conference's 12th member

The Pac-10 has invited the Utah Utes to become the newest member of the future Pac-12, and sources are reporting that Utah will happily accept.  Utah officals are holding a press conference tomorrow and Pac-10 officials will be in attendance. If you are a member of the Ute Nation this is undoubtedly great news. This move makes Utah an instant player in the BCS picture and gives the program national exposure.  This bodes well for program revenue and recruiting, something that...
