Washington QB Connor Halliday took several shots during the game, later diagnosed with a lacerated liver.

Washington State redshirt freshman quarterback Connor Halliday made his first career start Saturday versus the Utah Utes, but unfortunately he might have made his last, at least for this season. During Wazzu’s thrilling but heartbreaking 30-27 OT loss to Utah, Halliday took several hits to the body throughout the game causing Halliday to suffer a lacerated liver.

After the game, Halliday complained of intense pain so he was taken to Pullman Regional Hospital where specialists ultimately diagnosed the extent of Halliday’s injury. Halliday was immediately hospitalized in the intensive care unit where he will remain under observation for at least 48 hours.

Wazzu is very slim at the quarterback position as Halliday joins former starter Jeff Tuel. Wazzu will have to rely on third string QB Marshall Lobbestael as the team prepares for the Apple Cup against state rival Washington this Saturday at CenturyLink Field.
