Michele Bachmann: “I want to find that guy [Sandusky] and beat him to a pulp”

Minnesota Representative and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann addressed questions regarding the sexual abuse scandal at Penn State during Sunday’s Meet the Press with David Gregory. Bachman had two interesting comments regarding the fallout at Penn State. First, Bachmann said if this horrific incident happened to one of her children, she would want to find Jerry Sandusky and “beat him to a pulp.” Second, Bachmann was adamant that this investigation should remain at the state level and Congress should not...

A true sign of class from Penn State and Nebraska

After an emotionally charged week, there were skeptics that believed Penn State should cancel today’s game and perhaps cancel the remainder of the season citing among other things, safety. However, interim president Rod Erickson was going to have no part of that. The university did take precautions by adding extra security, but at the end of the day, Penn State and Nebraska are both teams rich in tradition and pride that wanted to play the game. Prior to kick-off,...

Tom Bradley takes the reins at Penn State

With Joe Paterno’s abrupt firing, the board of trustees appointed defensive coordinator Tom Bradley as interim head coach for the Nittany Lions effective immediately. Bradley’s routes are embedded in Pennsylvania as he was both a graduate of Penn State and played defensive back for Paterno in the late 1970’s. Ever since he graduated, he remained by Paterno’s side. He was a graduate assistant (1979), then promoted to assistant (1980-1999), then in 2000 was named the defensive coordinator to replace...

10 protest against Penn State, 1,500 students rally in support

David Baran, a Penn State graduate, is so disgusted with his alma mater that he staged a rally on Tuesday on the steps of Old Main to protest the Jerry Sandusky scandal and to showcase his distaste about the way Penn State handled the sex abuse charges. Baran pulled out his diploma, then a lighter, and set his degree ablaze for everyone to see. The one problem, only 10 supporters showed up to his protest. Meanwhile, over 1,500 students...

Joe Paterno reaches 408th win, ties the late Eddie Robinson for total career victories

Joe Paterno reached a historical milestone this evening by defeating Northwestern for his 408th career win tying the late legendary Grambling coach Eddie Robinson for total career victories. Penn State’s 34-24 win was in true Joe Paterno fashion who drew up a well balanced attack on offense and a suffocating run-stopping defense. The offense amassed 389 total yards with 192 yards in the air and 197 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, the defense stopped the Northwestern’s ground game holding both...

Joe Paterno once turned down job offer from Al Davis

As college and NFL teams paid tribute to the passing of NFL legendary owner Al Davis this past weekend, Penn State’s Joe Paterno addressed his relationship with his fellow Brooklyn native. During a post-game interview after Saturday’s defensive win over conference nemesis Iowa 13-3, Paterno reflected on the passing of Davis stating, “he was a tough guy. I am sorry to see him go.” Most don’t realize but when Davis became Oakland’s head coach in 1963, he offered Paterno...

QB Matt McGloin earns starting job for Penn State?

With the Indiana State Sycamores traveling to Happy Valley, there were questions on the Penn State sidelines concerning who will start under center, QB Matthew McGloin or QB Robert Bolden.  In a 41-7 trouncing of the Sycamores neither Penn State QB shattered any passing records, but Penn State appeared to be more productive and efficient on offense with McGloin calling the shots.  There was nothing Robert Bolden did on the field to show he earned the starting job. McGloin...

Joe Paterno injured during practice

Legendary coach Joe Paterno has yet again caused concern for the Nittany Lion faithful.  Yesterday, the old ball coach was injured during practice after he was blindsided by the speedy Devon Smith during a running drill.  Though Paterno was able to walk off the practice field, he did sustain injuries to his right arm and hip (injuries include a hairline fracture in both shoulders and pelvis). With his never say die attitude, coach Paterno conducted today’s coaches meeting over speaker...
