It’s too late to apologize

So here it is, Blount’s official apology: By LeGarrette Blount | University running back Though the incident at Boise State happened before the start of classes, there probably are few members of our University community who are unaware of the images and media reports of my regrettable actions following the Oregon-Boise State football game. There is no justification for my behavior — not the “heat of the moment,” not the “agony of defeat,” and definitely not anything said or...

This Duck’s Done

Oregon CB Walter Thurmond’s career as an Oregon Duck is over. Oregon’s best defensive back, and Jim Thorpe watchlist candidate, injured his knee during the opening kickoff Saturday against California, a game that Oregon won convincingly 42-3.  An MRI was done earlier today and it was decided that Thurmond would need to undergo season ending surgery. Thurmond has had an illustrious career at Oregon and had a strong start to the 2009 season by scoring two touchdowns in three games. One...

The Matador’s Muse

As we kick-off the college football season this Saturday, The Matador wants to highlight what’s going on around the college football Nation. Keep an eye on Georgia’s QB Cox as he is suffering from flu like symptoms and traveled separately from the team, but is still probable to start. VaTech’s Beamer announced that redshirt freshman Ryan Williams will start at tailback when the No. 7 Hokies play No. 5 Alabama. Oregon RB Blount is out for the remainder of his...

Blount Has No Class

LeGarrette Blount provided the only punch in a game Oregon will never want to talk about or remember. In an act of uncontrollable rage and cowardliness, Blount sucker punched Boise State’s Byron Hout as the clock expired on an 8-19 losing effort for the Ducks. Before kick-off, Blount was jawing at the mouth in the locker room saying Boise State deserves an ass whooping. After Blount’s lack of talent was exposed throughout the game, he decided to deliver his own...

Duck Gone Wild

The most famous cheerleader in college football history is making the news. Amanda Pflugrad may lose her cheerleading scholarship after pictures of her booze cruise bikini adventures made their way onto the internet. Oregon officials don’t think this is the image they want the squad to portray and Amanda doesn’t accurately represent the Ducks. Much to the dismay of Duck fans and players, sites are being created to Save Amanda’s Scholarship. Please help, in the name of pageantry.

The Pac-10

The Pac-10

The Matador dislikes when the Pac 10 is called the Pac 9 plus USC. The Pac 10 is a special conference in that they actually play everyone in their conference (unlike most of the other major conferences--I know what you are thinking Big East). However, the only true contender in the Pac-10 is the perennial powerhouse, USC. Here are the other teams that have an outside shot of winning the Pac 10. Cal would be my favorite if they had...
