Clemson announced today that redshirt freshman Kyle Parker will start at quarterback for the Tigers. Parker competed with Wille Korn for the starting job during the spring in a tight race that left many fans unsure of who would get the nod. 15 Duke football players have been infected with the infamous swine flu. The Blue Devil football team is currently staying at a hotel off campus for summer workouts and the infected have been quarantined for now. The almighty NCAA cracked down on Clemson University last week, claiming that Clemson violated rules. Charges of “improper attire” were thrown against the  Tigers, and head coach Dabo Swinney agreed to cancel two practices as a punishment.   There was some hitting on and off the field at UNC last month. Donte Paige-Moss, UNC’s highly touted recruit, was arrested last month for punching fellow teammate Hunter Furr during a dorm room altercation. Paige-Moss was charged with simple misdemeanor assault.  Furr was treated at a Chapel Hill hospital the next day for injuries sustained during the fracas. Darren Evans, last year’s Orange Bowl MVP, suffered a season ending ACL tear during Virginia Tech’s practice yesterday. This is a huge loss to the Hokies as Evans set numerous conference and school records last year as a freshman. His breakout performance of the  season came against Maryland when he rushed for a school best 253 yards. Maryland’s Ralph Friedgen was battling Kansas coach Mark Mangino for the heaviest coach alive title last season. Don’t look now but the Fridge has dropped 105 lbs since the off-season courtesy of his new diet. Friedgen weighed well over 300 lbs. at one point and says he started the diet to prevent health concern complications that come along with being overweight as he gets older. The Fridge’s diet consist of eating 5 portions of packaged meals daily, along with snacks such as fruit....

FSU WR Richard Goodman has been reinstated to the football team. Florida state’s attorney, John Fuchs, decided to drop aggravated battery charges against the redshirt senior after a two month long investigation. The charges stemmed from a November 12th fracas involving members of the FSU football team and members of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. During the fight, a female student was struck by a chair that was supposedly thrown by Goodman.  He was arrested for the incident and suspended indefinitely, pending the outcome of the investigation.
