Vol Navy sets sail for Haiti

Lane Kiffin is a saint and he doesn’t even know it. When the Vols hired Kiffin to take the reigns, there was so much excitement and hope in the air that the school created the Adidas’ “It’s Time” Lane Kiffin t-shirt. Well in the wake of the most devastating earthquake in Haiti, a West Knoxville apparel store, Hound Dogs, is offering anyone who brings in their “It’s Time” t-shirt 20% off their next purchase. All the t-shirts collected will be...

Another Vols Arrested

The Matador is considering changing this site to the Vols’ police blotter as Tennessee continues to deal with its delinquent players.  Another star 2009 recruit fell on the wrong side of the law and was arrested for shoplifting before the Memphis game.  Freshman defensive back Nyshier Oliver rounds up the forth criminal (for the month of November) on Kiffin’s team roster (you already know about the other three convicts). Now everyone has pregame rituals. For example, I like to wear the same socks from my...

Clean out your locker, you are out

Our legal montra is pretty simple: innocent until proven guilty. I guess this did not apply to the Vols’ Nu’Keese Richardson and Mike Edwards who were both permanently dismissed from the team for their attempted armed robbery charges. Meanwhile, safety Janzen Jackson is barred from team activities while the school awaits further information.      This is by no way saying the players were not involved in any incident, but at the very least the players should all be treated like...

Vols Players brandish (pellet) gun, end up behind bars

Lane Kiffin will need to keep his mouth shut from this point on after three of his freshman players were arrested for attempted armed robbery this morning. The three players who found themselves handcuffed were top recruit wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson, starting safety Janzen Jackson and defensive back Mike Edwards. Also along for the ride was Marie Montmarquet (not affiliated with the program). The accused were stalking their pray at a Pilot gas station on the Strip near Tennessee’s...

Layla Denies SI Rumors

Amidst all the internet rumors, it has been verified that as of now, Layla Kiffin will not be posing for the famed SI Swimsuit edition. There was a lot a buzz on the internet pointing to the contrary, but Layla did confirm she is not posing and has not even been approached by SI. It’s a shame because Layla would have made a nice cover girl and it’s clear her fan base wants to see what Layla has to...

WR Hancock out with broken jaw

Lane Kiffin is reporting that WR Quintin Hancock suffered a broken jaw in the Vols loss to Florida. Due to the injury, Hancock will not play in this Saturday’s match-up against Ohio University. The team doctor says Hancockl will be out for several weeks, but is confident he will be on the field in the latter part of the season. The Vols’ offense has been struggling and will really miss Hancock’s presence. In the last three games, Hancock amassed...

The Kiffin Era Begins

The Tennessee Vols opened practices yesterday with heightened intensity under first year coach Lane Kiffin. The Vols open the 2009 football season against Western Kentuckyon September 5th and Kiffin is making sure that his squad is well prepared for opening day. Yesterday’s practice was the usual standard procedure sans pads and contact but emotions and intensity ran high while Kiffin encouraged physicality on both sides of the ball. Kiffin has been a walking soundbite since arriving in Knoxville but he...
