Nebraska’s QB Taylor Martinez sidelined, Cody Green to start

In the aftermath of a tumultuous week for Nebraska, Bo Pelini, and QB Taylor Martinez, it looks like sophomore QB Cody Green will get the start for Nebraska’s season finale against Colorado for the Big 12 North championship. Pelini cited turf toe in Martinez’ left foot and a sore right ankle that will keep the shifty QB sidelined for the must win Colorado game. This will be Green’s second start of the season (4th career start) who is coming...

Is Kirk Ferentz the most overrated coach in college football? Pt. 2

The first part of this Iowa news series received such a warm reception by Hawkeye Nation, hopefully part two promises more of the same. Apparently, Hawkeye football in Iowa is more popular than corn subsidies. Iowans from Sioux City to Waterloo either left comments or shot-off emails, sticking up for their head coach, with some using a few choice words to do so.  Nonetheless, I would not expect any different from any true college football fan in coming to the aid and defense of their...

Pelini temporarily shuts the media door

As Nebraska prepares for its last season in the Big 12, head coach Bo Pelini is keeping a tight wrap around the progress of preseason. To limit distractions, yesterday Pelini announced that practices will be closed to the media until the weekend. He did not give any particular reason but one can suspect he wants to exit the conference with a bang and doesn’t want the next couple of days leaked to the public. He also suggested that he was...

Niles Paul picked up for urinating in public

The Nebraska faithful have reason to worry as their top receiver can’t seem to stay out of trouble. This past weekend, senior WR Niles Paul was picked up for possession of alcohol by a minor and urinating in public in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. Some time around 1:23 a.m. on Friday morning a police officer spotted Paul, who reeked of alcohol, urinating on a fence near Centennial Mall. The officer tested Paul who blew a .104. He was immediately arrested,...

Martinez Shines in Lincoln

Nebraska’s Taylor Martinez stole the headlines in the Huskers’ Red-White game on Saturday afternoon. The redshirt freshman QB filled in for injured starting QB Zac Lee. Lee underwent off-season elbow surgery on his throwing arm in early January which sidelined him for all of Nebraska’s spring practice. Husker faithful assumed that Lee would still have the starting job secured by the time of his return but it now looks as if a full blown QB competition is underway in Lincoln, NE....

Ndamukong Suh is the first defensive player to win AP Player of the Year Honors.  The beast of a defensive end from Nebraska edged out Stanford’s Toby Gerhart for the award. Suh led the ‘Huskers with 12 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks and was invited to New York as a Heisman finalist as a...
