The Matador’s Muse

The Matador’s Muse

What did we learn in Week 2. First, I’m a big fan of nepotism, but there is a point when a coach has to pull his son out of the game. It is clear that Cody Hawkins is not a good QB and the Toledo defense exposed his lack of talent all night long. Even when down several scores in the 4th quarter, his dad kept him in the game. As a result, he may have suffered a concussion...

The Huskies WIN

The Huskies WIN

The Matador is cracking open a Strongbow regaling on something Washington has not done since Nov. 17, 2007 when the Huskies faced California–WIN A GAME. The Huskies had the unfortunate privilege of holding the nations longest D-1 losing streak at 15 games. The streak came to a screeching halt today at the hands of Idaho 42-23. QB Jake Locker came into this game with one thing in mind, WIN. Also to note, Coach Steve Sarkisian got his first win...

Georgia loses a Lott

Georgia loses a Lott

The Georgia Bulldogs lost freshman DT Derrick Lott for the season. Lott had surgery to his right ankle this past Friday in Athens, Georgia. Since Lott did not play in the season opener, Lott will apply to the NCAA for a medical redshirt giving him 4 remaining years of eligibility. Look out for Lott next season, he will make a lot of noise. In the meantime, the Bulldogs faithful should have no fear as Jeff Owens and Geno Atkins...

After a bad break, Brown is back

For you Southern Miss fans, please stand-up and applause when WR DeAndre Brown (#5) runs onto the field to face UCF. As a freshman, Brown set school records with 67 receptions and 12 touchdowns.  He led the Golden Eagles straight to the New Orleans Bowl where, in a snap, his season and possibly his career ended. After nine months of intense rehab, Brown fully recovered and he is ready to ignite the Golden Eagles offense. Coach Larry Fedora is...

LB Bowman sits against the Orange

LB Bowman sits against the Orange

Linebacker U will be without one of the best LBs in the nation in Navorro Bowman. Bowman suffered a groin injury early in the season opener against Akron. For precautionary reasons, JoePa is going to sideline the stud LB and start redshirt sophomore Nathan Stupar. Whichever LB is plugged-in to fill the void, playing against Syracuse won’t make much of a difference. The Orange don’t have enough firepower on offense to make a dent in the strong Nittany Lions...

If you want to win and make money, hear me out

If you want to win and make money, hear me out

For The Matador, sports gambling is about making money. I’m not betting on college football games just to bet, I’m betting on games to pay rent. The Matador’s philosophy is quite simple, DO NOT BET ON MULTIPLE COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES. Statistics will prove, that in the end, you will lose.   Most websites list a handful of college games to bet on per week and then they advertise their lock of the week for extra money. If the handicapper is so sure of...

Doe & Jenkins LLC

Doe & Jenkins LLC

In a highly anticipated match-up this weekend (hahahaha), Florida’s Urban Meyer has listed LB Dustin Doe and CB Janoris Jenkins as eligible to play in Saturday’s game against Troy. As you recall, Doe (arrested for driving on a suspended license) and Jenkins (resisting arrest) both sat out during the home opener due to off-the-field incidents. The outcome of this game won’t be much different with or without Doe and Jenkins, but both players do need to get some real playing time before the...
