Aggies President wants Longhorns

Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin recently told the San Antonio Express-News that he still wants the Aggies to play the Texas Longhorns.  In fact, he threw down the gauntlet challenging Texas, “anytime, anywhere.”  However, Loftin was a key factor in moving the Aggies from the Big XII to the SEC all but ensuring an end to the 118-year old historic rivalry. As it stands, Texas is nowhere to be found in A&M’s future schedules but the Aggies do...

Texas A&M fans deface UT campus

In the eyes of the Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M cannot leave the conference soon enough as UT fans are tired of Texas A&M’s immature and idiotic antics. This time, according to The Daily Texan, unidentified vandals decided to spray-paint various locations on UT’s campus late Friday night. Being it was family weekend, students, parents, and guests, woke up to slogans like “MUNgLoaf Was here” and “Gig em Aggies” spray-painted on walkways and campus buildings. College football’s 10 most promising newcomers for 2011

College football is an incredibly difficult game to master. With the speed, strength and complexity of the schemes, it’s unreasonable to expect a first-year player to make an immediate impact. But, when a freshman or JUCO transfer can productively fill a position of need, it can catapult his team to a different level. Before last season, few college football fans knew about Cam Newton — a year later, Auburn is the defending national champion and Carolina Panthers fans are...

Brian Orakpo needs to work on his golf swing

There is no denying Redskins LB Brian Orakpo is a menace on the football field, but on the golf course, that remains to be seen. During the Brian Orakpo Leukemia Golf Classic, fans got to see first-hand Orakpo’s Tiger Woods like swing (see video above). Unfortunately, Orakpo had some difficulty connecting with the ball. DeAngelo Hall had some telling words about the lefty’s game, “’Rak can’t play . He’s a little too stiff.” When asked about who had the...

Mediocrity pays for Ron Zook

How is Ron Zook rewarded for turning in a 7-6 season and a Texas Bowl victory over Baylor…a $250,000.00 raise. Zook, who has been under the helm at Illinois since 2005 has compiled a paltry 28-45 overall record. In return, the University of Illinois wants to thank him by bumping his compensation package, upon board approval, in excess of $1.75 million dollars. After a 3-9 campaign in 2009, the Illini nation was sure Zook would be replaced. Instead, the...

Mack Brown turns to an alum for help, hires Jerry Gray

After last season’s sub-par performance, Texas coach Mack Brown continues to rebuild his coaching staff by hiring ex-Longhorns. Former Texas sensation Jerry Gray was just named the Longhorns’ new assistant head coach and defensive backs coach. He will join fellow alums co-offensive coordinator Major Applewhite and defensive ends coach Oscar Giles. Gray is an outstanding addition to the coaching staff who certainly comes from a strong football pedigree that is second to none. He played DB for Texas (’81-’84),...
