Iowa suffered two losses this past Saturday in Tucson, Arizona. As if losing 31-24 to the Arizona Wildcats wasn’t enough, the Hawkeyes also lost starting RB Jewel Hampton for the rest of the season, after he tore his ACL in the second half. With only one other bonafied RB on the roster in Adam Robinson, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz is scrambling to find replacements: “We’ve got Adam, and anyone else that wants to volunteer.”
Hampton’s career at Iowa has been mired with injury. After setting the Iowa freshman school rushing touchdown record with seven in 2008, Hampton missed the 2009 season with the same ACL injury. Iowa will look to rebound from their first loss of the season this Saturday when Ball State visits Iowa City.
