Dean is a Javelina

WR Delashaun Dean (#18) is packing his bags and heading over to Texas A&M Kingsville

Earlier this week we reported that standout wide receiver Delashaun Dean was indefinitely suspended from the Arizona Wildcats for brandishing a firearm at the local IHOP. With his criminal charges looming (Dean has court on Tuesday), he thought it best to trade his Wildcats jersey for a Javelinas. That’s right, Dean confirmed his intentions of transferring to Division II Texas A&M Kingsville.

Dean considered several D-II teams but felt he would fit best with a program that has won 7 D-II national championships and 34 conference titles. Not to mention, NFL greats Darrell Green, John Randle, and Gene Upshaw all have Javelinas pride.

In 2009, the Javelinas were 9-3 but had a disappointing 1st round exit in the NCAA playoffs. With the addition of Dean, the Javelinas are getting a much needed deep threat in their already high powered offense led by RB Fred Winborn who finished the season with an impressive 1,295 yards and 17 touchdowns.

As for Arizona and Mike Stoops, there is a cause for concern because Dean was targeted to be the go-to receiver. It’s now up to Juron Criner and David Roberts to fill the void left by the departing Dean.
