Vondrell McGee suspended 1 game after DWI arrest

Texas RB Vondrell McGee has been suspended for one game with the possibility of more depending on the outcome of his pending DWI case. The 5’10 senior from Longview, Texas, was pulled over at 3:07 am Sunday morning by an Austin police officer who observed him driving without his headlights on.  Upon being pulled over, McGee blew a 0.12, the legal limit in the state of Texas is 0.08. He was arrested on the scene and taken in on a DWI charge.

McGee was a member of Texas’ running back by committee last season. He started 4 games and played in 9 for the ‘Horns last season in which he totaled 300 yards rushing for 2 TDs. As long as McGee keeps his nose clean, this incident shouldn’t be anything more than a hiccup for him and he’ll be back on the field in time for UT’s second game of the season against Wyoming.
