It looks like we have another star college basketball player a la Greg Paulus who wants to trade in his high-tops for cleats. Purdue’s senior guard Chris Kramer is contemplating whether or not he should give it a go on the gridiron. He was a blue chip high school player who excelled at QB, RB, and DB. However, during his high school days at Huntington North (Indiana), he was focused on playing college basketball even though fans and coaches said he was a better football player.
Kramer had a successful run with the Boilermakers playing roundball. He was twice named Big 10 defensive player of the year and finished his career as the school’s all-time steals leader. Since he never used his red shirt, he has one season of eligibility left to play football.
Football head coach Danny Hope would be more than welcoming for Kramer to tryout as spring practice just kicked-off. Kramer would most likely play DB or safety and Purdue is in serious need of talent and depth in the secondary. This could be a perfect fit for both Kramer and Purdue.
Here at The Matador, we wish Kramer the best of luck. He is certainly a gifted athlete who could be a play-maker on the football field.
