Don't wear too much red on this tour

Not much is going on around the college football world except for Michigan being out of compliance with NCAA rules, Oregon dealing with another potential player loss, and Derek Dooley making bank as Tennessee’s new coach. With that being said, it looks like I’ve found the perfect tool for USC (the university of spoiled children) to lure recruits to Tinseltown.

We have all been intrigued by National Geographic’s documentaries on gang life and prison life, but now you can see it for real. Alfred Lomas is the founder of LA Gang Tours. Lomas, a former South Central gang member, is charging $100 per ticket to travel in his luxury bus through inner city projects, at-risk neighborhoods, and high crime areas in Compton, California. If you are lucky enough, you may catch a glimpse of the Bloods and Crips in a shootout or perhaps you will see an LAPD beat down at the intersection of Florence and Normandie.

In all seriousness, the gang situation in LA is extremely worrisome. Last May, an All-City WR who had dreamt of playing at USC was gunned down at a fast food restaurant by a local gang member in Compton. LA Gang Tours is supposed to raise money and awareness about gang warfare and to help stop the violence.

I’m not seeing how this will cure the problem, but hopefully Lomas knows what he is doing. It just seems odd that a bunch of wealthy white folks will pay $100 a pop to see first-hand what gang life is like in LA.

The site does not mention whether or not there is an option for tour life insurance.
