Montana returns to South Bend

Nate Montana is trading in the surf and sand of Southern California and returns back to the snow and ice of South Bend

The son of a legend returns to Notre Dame (again). Joe Montana convinced his son to return to the Irish as there is a great opportunity for Nate Montana to take some snaps under center. With the early departure of Jimmy Clausen and the knee injury to Dayne Crist, Brian Kelly is looking for a strong arm to run his offense.

With no real prospects in sight, the job is wide open to anyone. In the first go-around, Montana saw very little action but round 2 may prove to be different.

If you don’t recall, Nate Montana walked on the team in 2008, but transferred last year to Pasadena City College due to lack of reps. Now that there is no returning singnal caller, this is Montana’s opportunity to grab the reigns. However, he will have to do better than his 31-88 for 324 yards with 2 touchdowns and 5 INTS at City College.

The Matador will keep you appraised of the Golden Domer’s development throughout the off-season.
