Will the real Montana please stand up?

With a last name like Montana, you are almost expected to be great especially under center. Unfortunately, the Montana name did not translate to success for Joe Montana’s eldest son Nate. Now that Nate’s career is all but over (currently plays for the University of Montana), it’s Nick ’s time to carry on the Montana torch. Earlier today, head coach Steve Sarkisian tweeted to the Husky nation that red-shirt freshman Nick Montana will get his first career start as...

Joe Montana on Notre Dame, “It’s hard to be in their corner”

Notre Dame’s legendary quarterback Joe Montana is displeased with his alma mater. During the 22nd annual Compeer luncheon appearance at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester New York, the Golden Domer was asked weather he would consider an athletic director position or head coach position at Notre Dame. His response, “You’re asking me at absolutely the wrong time.” Montana’s terse comment evolved from the way his son Nate Montana was treated during his brief stint at Notre Dame. The...

ND’s fate rests with true freshman QB Tommy Rees

It wasn’t too long when Notre Dame QB Tommy Rees was 3rd on the depth chart behind Dayne Crist and Nate Montana. Now, the 18 year-old freshman is set to make his grand starting debut for the most storied football program in the nation. Another Montana steals the show

Earlier in the spring season we reported on the success of Nate Montana’s spring game in South Bend. Now it looks like another Montana is shining but over on the west coast.  The Huskies’ nation got their first glimpse of Nick Montana during Washington’s annual Spring Game last night. Over 15,000 Huskies fans stood in the wind and rain to watch the son of Hall of Fame QB Joe Montana lead the Purple (No. 2 offense and No ....

The ghost of Montana’s past

The ghost of Montana revisited South Bend this Saturday before a crowd of 27,241 screaming Irish fans. During Notre Dame’s annual spring game, Nate Montana surpassed all expectations as he led his team to victory á la Joe Montana. The young Montana went 18 for 30 throwing for 223 yards, three TDs, and INT to lead the Gold to a thrilling victory over the Blue 27-19. Montana, who played for Pasadena City College last season, is not expected to...

Montana returns to South Bend

The son of a legend returns to Notre Dame (again). Joe Montana convinced his son to return to the Irish as there is a great opportunity for Nate Montana to take some snaps under center. With the early departure of Jimmy Clausen and the knee injury to Dayne Crist, Brian Kelly is looking for a strong arm to run his offense. With no real prospects in sight, the job is wide open to anyone. In the first go-around, Montana saw very...

Moving On…For Now

Nate Montana, the son of former Notre Dame and San Francisco great Joe Montana, has decided to leave Notre Dame for Pasadena City College. However, he intends to return to Notre Dame next spring and compete again for the quarterback job. Montana walked on to Notre Dame’s football team  but was not expected to get many reps at QB during practice this fall. Montana, a California native,  plans to play for Pasadena City College where he hopes to gain more...
