Taglianetti goes down in Buffalo, he will miss the remainder of the season

The University of Pittsburgh announced that sophomore safety Andrew Taglianetti tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the Panthers victory over Buffalo 54-27. Since the injury occurred early in the season, Taglianetti can move for a medical redshirt giving him another year of eligibility.

As it stands, Taglianetti will undergo surgery this year and junior Elijah Fields will take over as starting safety. Dave Wannstedt stated, “He [Andrew] is an important performer on and off the field for us. The silver lining is he can receive a medical redshirt.”
