Rumors are swirling in the virtual world that Pitt is joining the Big 10 conference. Some have doubts about the rumors, while others, including Ben Maller, see it happening. Maller reports: University of Pittsburgh athletics are moving to the Big 10 conference, according to sources close to the school. The University of Pittsburgh announced that sophomore safety Andrew Taglianetti tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the Panthers victory over Buffalo 54-27. Since the injury occurred early in the season, Taglianetti can move for a medical redshirt giving him another year of eligibility. As it stands, Taglianetti will undergo surgery this year and junior Elijah Fields will take over as starting safety. Corporate America, or should I say Nike, has taken over the University of Pittsburgh athletic department. Yesterday, the Pitt Panthers unveiled their new Nike football uniforms that are akin to Georgia Tech’s. There are three noticeable differences that traditional Pitt fans dislike. First, there is the addition of the Nike swoosh logo on the upper left shoulder. Second, Pitt is not written in its traditional script format; rather, Pitt is in small block letters above the player’s front number. Finally, the blue and mustard yellow color scheme...
