TE Jermaine Gresham will miss Saturday’s season opener against the 20th rank BYU Cougars according to the Oklahoman. The senior Mackey Award candidate injured his knee this week in practice but school officials are keeping a tight lid on the severity of the injury. The Sooners will turn to either James Hanna or Trent Ratterree to fill in for Greshman this Saturday. Greshman surprised many by coming back to Oklahoma for his senior season as he was a sure bet to be drafted early in this year’s NFL draft.
Gresham caught 66 passes for 950 yards and 14 TDs for the Sooners last season. He is arguably the best tight end in college football this season and is a pre-season All-American. We will continue to monitor things in Norman and will keep you updated on the status of his injury.
