In an effort to catch Joe Paterno and claim title to the winningest coach in D-1 college football history, sources have revealed that Florida State’s Bobby Bowden does not plan on retiring at the end of this season. Bobby Bowden has expressed the promise and talent of this year’s team and he believes in 2010 FSU will dominate as they did in the late 90’s.
This may or may not be true, but Coach Bowden told his son, Terry Bowden, that he does not plan on retiring after the end of the season. He plans on continuing his coaching career at FSU.
It will be interesting to see Bobby Bowden’s thought process after the NCAA rules on his appeal regarding the sanctions. If the NCAA rules against him, he will have no shot at catching the legendary Joe Paterno.
Another wrench in this situation is if Jimbo Fisher, the coach-in-waiting, is not named head coach by January 2011, the school must pony up $5 million to Fisher.
The question remains, what will Bowden really do?
