Boise State and Georgia to meet in Atlanta next season

Next year’s Chick-fil-A kickoff game will feature Boise State and Georgia. The two teams agreed terms to play in Atlanta on September 3, 2011. The game will be Boise’s second season-opener that the team will play on the road. Boise faced Virgina Tech earlier this season at Landover, MD’s, FedEx Field. Boise was originally scheduled to travel to Oxford, MS, to play the Ole Miss Rebels, but dropped them from the schedule for Georgia. The two schools rescheduled their meeting for the...

Under Saban, The Tide Has Turned

On January 3, 2007, Nick Saban agreed to become Alabama’s 27th head coach. Both the Tide and Saban were the butt of many jokes across the nation. College football fans from Eugene, OR, to West Palm Beach, FL, were placing bets on how long it would be before Saban left the Crimson Tide for greener pastures elsewhere. Thirty-eight wins later, it looks as if Saban and Alabama are having the last laugh. For a conference that prides itself on being the...

Georgia’s A.J. Green Suspended Four Games by the NCAA

Breaking news from the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Georgia star WR A.J. Green will be suspended for 4 games by the NCAA after allegedly selling his Independence Bowl game jersey for $1,000. Green missed Georgia’s season-opener against Louisiana-Layfayette last week, but many thought the junior would be cleared of any wrongdoing by this week’s game against South Carolina. This comes as a blow to Georgia as Green is the team’s most valuable weapon. Though nagged by injuries forcing...

The Riverboat Gambler’s Final Hand

Three years removed from winning his first and only BCS National Championship, LSU skipper Les Miles could be entering his last season as head coach of the Tigers. Miles assumed head coaching duties on January 3, 2005, when current Alabama head coach Nick Saban bolted Baton Rouge to try his hand in the NFL. Miles got off to a red-hot start by going 11-2 in his first season as head coach and earned a trip to Atlanta to represent...

‘Bama Declares Spelling is for Losers

Apparently one of the perks of being the BCS National Champion is the right to rename opponents’ schools.  Thanks to Friends of The Program, we now know that the University of Alabama athletic department is apparently spending far too much time focusing on repeating as BCS national champs, and not enough time on anything else. When printing tickets for this year’s slate of games, someone fell asleep at the wheel and misprinted the ‘Bama vs. ‘Mississipi‘ State tickets. Unfortunately for Alabama, the...

Life’s a party in Athens, GA

The college football off-season is usually relatively quiet in many college towns each year. However, this has not been the case in Athens, GA this summer as more players have come across the local police blotter than Lindsey Lohan has issues. Less than a week after disgraced former UGA athletic director Damon Evans stepped down from his position following his DUI arrest and possible infidelity mishap, the Georgia Bulldogs are yet again in the news with more legal woes. Tailback Dontavius...

Gray sticks with UGA

The Georgia Bulldogs received some good news today concerning Logan Gray when he announced that he’d be staying at Georgia. Gray made news a few weeks ago when it was rumored that he’d be transferring from Georgia, a move that had many in Athens worried given their lack of depth at the QB position. Gray, a QB on Georgia’s depth chart, was unhappy with the decision by head coach Mark Richt to tab Aaron Murray as the starter heading into...
