Bill Snyder, the architect of what some consider the greatest turnaround in college football, has given himself and his coaching staff a deadline to name K-State’s starting quarterback for the 2009 football season. Snyder wants to name a starting quarterback by August 29th, a week before the Wildcats’s season opener against UMass.
The Wildcats are entering this season without school record-setting quarterback Josh Freeman, and as of now, his replacement has yet to be named. Carson Coffman, Grant Gregory (South Florida transfer), and junior college transfer Daniel Thomas, are the frontrunners vying for the spot and all are legitimate contenders for the position. Coffman is the only one on KSU’s roster who has actually played a down for the ‘Cats and it seemed that he has the best chance of winning the starting job. Apparently, Snyder is not handing the reins of the offense over to him just yet as many had expected. One thing Snyder has shown the college football world in the past is that he knows what he is doing. Fans in the Little Apple trust him to make the right decision regarding the quarterback situation.
