UCF slapped with 2 year probation

Is Central Florida’s two year probation a precursor to what Southern California can expect in the next couple of days? The NCAA has determined that the UCF staff committed major recruiting violations to include placing over 200 non-permissible phone calls and about 100 non-permissible text messages from June 2007 to January 2009 to 27 recruits and parents. The responsible parties are former UCF recruiting administrator Ed Marynowitz and former director of player personnel Steve Rubio. Marynowitz moved on and is now...

Hokie Nation Continues to Hate on Sean Glennon

Former Virginia Tech QB Sean Glennon has seen some ups and downs during his collegiate career. He went from being named MVP of the 2007 ACC championship game to riding the pine during his final game in the 2008 Orange Bowl. He took the reverse path from what most QBs take. In 2006 he threw for an impressive 2,191 yards; in 2007, his passing numbers dropped to 1,796; and in 2008, his passing yards plummeted to 743 total yards while...

Clarett seeks prison release

During the 2002 national championship game, all eyes were on Ohio State RB Maurice Clarett as he scored the game winning touchdown in double overtime against the heavily favored Miami Hurricanes. Since that glories TD, it has been all downhill for Clarett. Clarett pleaded guilty back in September 2006 for possession of a firearm while holding up two people outside of a Columbus bar. Since then, he has been a guest of the state and he currently resides at...

‘Cuse adds Tyrone Wheatley to coaching staff

Former Michigan star RB Tyrone Wheatley made his way back to the college gridiron. He returns as the running backs coach for Doug Marrone’s depleted Syracuse squad (who just had a solid recruiting class). Wheatley brings much needed experience and know how for the Orange. As a 3 time All-Big Ten RB who played 10 years in the NFL for the Giants and the Raiders, he certainly has the background to teach RBs Delone Carter, Antwon Bailey and Averin...

QB Jenkins is sacked with a DWI

When Derek Dooley left Ruston, Louisiana, home of the Squire Creek Peach Festival, Louisiana Tech tapped Arizona’s offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes to take the helm. Now that Dykes is the head coach, he is the front man for disciplining his players. First up to receive the wrath of Dykes is 5th year senior QB Ross A. Jenkins. According to reports, Jenkins was stopped during a checkpoint at about 1:30 a.m. early Sunday morning. When a member of the drunk-driving...

The NCAA Strips Florida State

It’s official. The Florida State Seminoles will be forced to vacate 12 of its wins, five from the 2006-07 season and seven from the 2007-08 season. As part of the NCAA’s punishment, the school will be required to forfeit any trophies won during those seasons. Not that it’s an eye stopper at the Rick Losco Trophy Room, but this means the school must return its Emerald Bowl trophy back to the appropriate sponsor. Other teams facing sanctions were men’s and women’s...

Hampton receives handcuffs

On Wednesday, CB Victor Hampton signed his letter of intent and became a part of South Carolina’s 2010 impressive recruiting class. On Friday, he signed his intake papers at Darlington County Jail for underage drinking becoming a part of a growing number of athletes landing behind bars. In the aftermath of his signing celebration, this four-star recruit decided to take his own party to school and celebrate by getting his drink on in homeroom. Much to the dismay of...
